Having perfect skin is a constant struggle and it requires commitment and perseverence. I think it’s not all about using expensive products, it’s more about establishing a proper face care regimen and sticking to it. Let me elaborate on what I think is the perfect routine:
Step 1: Cleanse
If you’re wearing make-up (which you most likely do on a regular basis), this step referrs to removing it gently, preferably with a milky formula make-up remover or even a balm. I currently like this one by La Roche-Posay, but there’s tons of alternatives out there. Just don’t scrub too hard!
Step 2: Double cleanse
This is where the very popular micellar waters come in. They take off the residues that still remain after the first cleanse and leave your face almost perfectly clear! We all know about Bioderma, but Garnier has come up with a great alternative lately and for only a fraction of the price!
Step 3: Triple cleanse
If you’re wearing make-up, this is step 3 and it ensures your face is perfectly clean and prevents breakouts. If you’re not wearing make-up, this should be step 1! Never ever skip this step! I currently fell in love with Avene Cleanance, but Paula’s Choice or La Roche-Posay Effaclar are great alternatives!
Step 4: Tone
This is optional, but ever since I discovered the 97% natural ingredients Apivita toner, I don’t go by without it. It’s also the only toner I like so I couldn’t find any alternatives here!
Step 5: Exfoliate
The step that every beauty commercial skips, highly important if you want to get rid of blackheads and pimples for good! After a facial, start exfoliating a few times a week with either a scrub (mechanic exfoliation) or a BHA product (chemical exfoliation). For a scrub, I prefer Apivita and the other option would definitely be Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant. On the nights when I don’t exfoliate (every other night for me), I use a tea tree oil for my spots and it works woders!
Step 6: Moisturize
No news here, we all know we need to moisturize! With age, incorporating retinol into your skincare regimen should be a must, but this products can be quite pricy. However, I recently discovered Gerovital H3 Retinol face cream and a Gerovital eye cream for a great price and don’t plan to stop using them!
